Yeohyun Ahn is a distinguished graphic artist, designer, educator, and researcher who lives with a disability. She is dedicated to integrating creative coding, diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and healing into her professional practice and research. Originally from South Korea, she moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue graduate studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). In 2022, she received the Society of Experiential Graphic Design Educator Award for founding and organizing the visionary art and design conference and curated exhibition titled "Evolving Graphic Design." As the principal investigator, she secured an impressive funding amount of $81,680 from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and the Brittingham Wisconsin Trust. This achievement represents a significant milestone in graphic design and communication design research, involving collaborative efforts among over twenty-eight graphic design educators from diverse institutions worldwide. Her work has been featured in prestigious outlets such as The Washington Post, PRINT, The New York Times Magazine, Letter Arts Review, Creator's Project, and Designboom.com. Additionally, Professor Ahn has contributed to notable academic textbooks, including "Graphic Design: The New Basics," "Thinking with Type," and "Type on Screen," published by Princeton Architectural Press, as well as "Data-Driven Graphic Design" by Fairchild Books in the United Kingdom, and "Giving Type Meaning" by Bloomsbury. Her works have also been published in "Slanted 4.0: Experimental TYPE 1.0 & 2.0" in Germany. Her research and artistic contributions have appeared in publications from reputable organizations such as Leonardo (MIT Press), the Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts (ISEA), the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and SIGGRAPH. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design with a specialization in Interactive Media from MICA, an MFA in Information Design with a concentration in Graphic Art from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from Chungbuk National University in Cheongju, South Korea. In addition to her artistic practice, she is in the College Art Association's Annual Conference Committee. She also serves as a reviewer for Leonardo (MIT Press) and evaluates grants for the National Endowment for the Arts. Moreover, she has been a guest graphic artist for The New York Times Magazine.
