Chicago Chrismas, Photography, December 23, 2024
On December 24, 2025, I captured a striking photograph in the bustling heart of Chicago, near the iconic Michigan Avenue. Utilizing my Panasonic LUMIX LX10 camera, I set the scene with a focal length of 28mm, an aperture of f/2.5, and a shutter speed of 1/80s. The atmospheric conditions that day were a blend of wintery gloom and rain, which I accentuated using photo manipulation techniques on my iPhone. Due to a temporary disability, navigating the icy streets was particularly daunting; however, I managed to seize this moment from the cozy confines of the passenger seat as my husband expertly navigated the city traffic. Although I couldn't employ a tripod for stability, this limitation surprisingly added a unique charm to the image, with the raindrops on the car window transforming into a delicate tapestry that blurred the urban landscape beyond. The effect created an intriguing interplay of light and color, capturing both the essence of the city and my experience in a single frame.
