Y: January 2010

Since 2009, I had been waiting for having a baby. At the beginning, waiting a baby was an exciting process with my husband, but later it demanded for me to be heavily patient because even I didn't make it. My work explores an experimental visual form to express womb experimentally with the letter, Y. I decided to use the letter form, Y, because the letter, Y, is a part of my name(Yeohyun Ahn.) I drew numerous tree forms by using Binary tree algorithm on the inanimate and plain outlines of the letter form, Y, to give the letter form,Y, life. I referenced Binary tree algorithm to visualize the tree forms, Geomerative Library, and Caligraft
(http://www.caligraft.com,) created by Ricard Maxer, to generate the tree forms based on the outline of the letter, Y, and a font: Arial, to reference the outline information of the letter shape, Y. In a dark space, the letter form, Y, is visually transformed to a meaningful and living visual form expressing the womb, where is home(or place) to form human bodies, through coding directly.
